Eye Examination
With over 15 years experience of examining eyes, Scott provides a thorough, professional eye examination to all patients.
Scott is a member of The British College of Optometrists and registered with the General Optical Council, and regularly attends continued education and training courses.
Eye examinations are recommended at 1 to 2 year intervals or as advised by Scott.
Diabetics, Glaucoma sufferers and family history of Glaucoma should be seen yearly.
The main functions of the eye examination are:
1) |
To assess vision and prescribe spectacles / contact lenses ONLY if required. |
2) |
To assess how well the eyes work together (Binocular vision) |
3) |
To assess the health of the eye, possibly the most important aspect of the examination as a lot of general health conditions can be picked up from the eye, e.g. Diabetes, Raised Blood Pressure, Cholestorol, Glaucoma. |
EYE EXAMINATIONS ARE FREE TO ALL PATIENTS.
Pressure Test
At the advice of Scott, a machine called a Tonometer will be used to determine the intra-ocular pressure of the eye-ball.
Visual Field Test
Used to determine the extent of peripheral vision.
Digital Retinal Photography
A state of the art camera allows the retina to be photographed and kept on computer for future reference.
This is an excellent diagnostic instrument that allows us to see changes occurring in the eyes over many years.
Domicillary Visits
Home visits can be easily arranged for patients unable to attend the practice in Aberdeen and surrounding areas.
